Combination treatment for lipoedema with Vaser & Renuvion

Combination treatment for lipoedema with Vaser & Renuvion: precise fat removal, skin tightening and quick recovery.

Combination treatment for lipoedema with Vaser & Renuvion

The combination of Vaser technology and Renuvion is regarded as one of the most modern and gentlest forms of lipoedema treatment – it combines precise fat removal with controlled skin tightening in a single, tissue-sparing procedure. This means lipoedema can be not only treated medically but also balanced aesthetically – without an additional operation, without visible scars. The result is not only lighter, but also smoother and more even. At the same time, the combination shortens the healing phase, reduces swelling and makes the whole treatment experience considerably more comfortable for those affected.

A condition that is a burden both physically and psychologically

Anyone living with lipoedema knows the feeling of being a stranger in their own body. The legs or arms feel heavy, sensitive, out of proportion – no matter how healthily you live. Even exercise or weight loss barely changes the picture, because lipoedema is not a question of lifestyle but a chronic disorder of fat distribution. Classic lipoedema affects women exclusively and usually appears during phases of hormonal change. Typical features are symmetrical fat accumulation on the legs, hips or arms, accompanied by tenderness to pressure, a feeling of tension and a characteristic tendency to bruise. The tissue is often painful, and even small knocks leave marks. Conservative measures such as lymphatic drainage or compression help to support lymph flow, but cannot remove the diseased fatty tissue. Only a surgical procedure brings long-term relief here – and the combination of Vaser & Renuvion is particularly suitable for this, because it protects the tissue, shapes it and tightens it at the same time.

Vaser® and Renuvion®: the power couple in the treatment of lipoedema

For a long time, the condition was underestimated. Today we know that only by removing the diseased fatty tissue can the cause be treated. But not every liposuction is the same. Especially with sensitive lipoedema tissue, it is crucial to choose the method as gentle and precise as possible. What distinguishes Vaser and Renuvion together is their perfect interplay. First, the diseased fatty tissue is loosened by Vaser and gently removed. Then the skin is tightened from within with Renuvion. The silhouette looks more defined, the tissue more compact, the skin firmer – with considerably shorter recovery time than with classic methods.

Vaser technology works with targeted ultrasound energy, which liquefies fat cells through fine vibrations without damaging surrounding structures. Unlike conventional liposuction, the tissue is not roughened mechanically but gently loosened. That means: less bruising, less swelling, less trauma. In lipoedema in particular this is a decisive advantage – because the tissue reacts sensitively to pressure and injury. Thanks to the fine control that Vaser offers, diseased fat cells can be removed selectively, while vessels, lymph channels and nerves are largely preserved. The result: an even, harmonious contour and a considerably shortened healing phase.

After the fat removal comes the second, equally decisive step: tightening. In patients with lipoedema, the connective tissue is often overstretched – the skin loses elasticity, especially after the relief that comes from fat removal. This is where Renuvion comes in. The technology uses a combination of cold helium plasma and radiofrequency energy, applied selectively beneath the skin. Through precise, controlled heat, the tissue contracts, the collagen fibres become denser, and a visible tightening effect is achieved – without incisions, without surgical stitching, without scars. Renuvion works where other methods reach their limits: beneath the skin surface, directly in the connective tissue. The temperature peaks last only milliseconds, so the skin is tightened without being overheated. The result is a firmer, smoother appearance that continues to improve over the following months.

Procedure & healing phase

The treatment is usually carried out under twilight sedation or local anaesthetic and takes – depending on the region – two to four hours. After a short observation period, the patient can go home on the same day. In the first days, mild swelling or a feeling of tension may occur, but this subsides quickly. Compression garments are worn for around four to six weeks to support the tissue optimally. After about two weeks, everyday activity is possible again, and after four weeks sport too. The final result becomes apparent over three to six months, once the tissue has fully regenerated and the new collagen has stabilised. Many patients describe the moment after healing as liberating – the legs feel lighter, the tenderness to pressure disappears, clothes fit differently. The sense of one’s body changes fundamentally.

Despite its superiority: not standard, and not covered by health insurers.

Although the combination of Vaser and Renuvion is regarded in specialist circles as particularly gentle and effective, it has so far been offered by only a few specialised clinics. This has less to do with its effectiveness than with its technical demands and cost structure. Both techniques require a high level of experience, precise timing and a deep understanding of the anatomy – especially with sensitive lipoedema tissue. At the same time, the devices are elaborate and expensive to purchase, and the procedure is time-consuming and technically complex. In addition: when approving treatments, health insurers base their decisions exclusively on medical necessity, not on the aesthetic result. Techniques such as Vaser and Renuvion are regarded as advanced, tissue-sparing and aesthetically superior, but are more expensive than classic liposuction. Because they tighten the skin and harmonise contours and thus go beyond pure symptom relief, they fall into the category of self-pay services. In practice this means: even if patients achieve less pain, a lighter silhouette and a more lasting result through this method, health insurers do not, as a rule, cover the costs.
