In liposuction, medically known as liposuction, localised fat deposits are removed permanently. Unlike with diet and exercise, where fat cells only shrink, here they disappear from the treated area. At Innerform in Berlin Mitte, we work with VASERlipo: ultrasound energy loosens the fat cells before they are removed with fine cannulas. This protects nerves, vessels and connective tissue, shortens healing and allows the skin to contract better after the procedure.
The distribution of fat deposits is often genetically or hormonally determined. This is why some areas can hardly be changed even with training and a good diet. This is exactly where liposuction comes in – for harmonious proportions, not for weight loss.

The method
VASERlipo or traditional liposuction?
Many people choose VASERlipo because they want a visible but natural-looking change, without the long downtime that used to be associated with liposuction. Unlike traditional or water-jet-assisted liposuction, VASERlipo loosens the fat cells with ultrasound energy before they are removed. This allows finer cannulas to be used, the surrounding tissue is protected, recovery is shorter and the result is more even. Because the connective tissue remains largely intact, the skin usually contracts better afterwards, and the silhouette looks slimmer and firmer.

What to expect from liposuction at Innerform
Consultation and preparation
In a personal conversation, we look at the areas: what is the tissue like, what is the skin elasticity, which result is realistic and harmonious? We then inform you about the procedure, preparation, alternatives and risks and prepare an individual quotation. No blood-thinning medication and no nicotine for at least two weeks before surgery.
Day of surgery
Three steps: a solution containing anaesthetic agents is introduced into the fatty tissue, which reduces bleeding. Then ultrasound waves loosen the fat cells via a fine probe, while nerves, vessels and connective tissue are protected. Finally, the liquefied fat is removed with particularly thin cannulas, for an even result without hard edges. Under general anaesthetic or twilight sedation, 1 to 3 hours, outpatient or with one night.
Aftercare
For the first 4 to 6 weeks, compression garments support skin tightening and reduce swelling. We recommend regular lymphatic drainage, which drains fluid and speeds up recovery. Light movement is soon possible after consultation; intense exercise only after 4 to 6 weeks.
Anaesthesia
General anaesthetic or twilight sedation, depending on the extent, outpatient or with one night.
Recovery
Everyday life after a few days, swelling subsides in 2 to 4 weeks, exercise after 4 to 6 weeks.
Scars
Only small, inconspicuous puncture sites for the probe and cannulas.

Suitability
Who is liposuction suitable for?
VASERlipo is a body contouring method, not a weight-loss method. It is suitable if
- localised, stubborn fat deposits are to be removed
- your weight is normal to slightly above your comfortable weight
- natural proportions are to be adjusted or defined
- your weight has been stable for some time
- your BMI is below 30, ideally 18.5 to 25
- your skin is still sufficiently elastic
Combination
Liposuction with skin tightening or fat transfer
If skin elasticity decreases, liposuction alone can lead to more loose skin. In that case, we combine VASERlipo with Renuvion (J-Plasma), which tightens the skin directly afterwards. With a greater excess, surgical tightening is the better choice. The fat that is removed can also be processed and used elsewhere, for example for a Brazilian butt lift or fat transfer breast augmentation. And for cellulite, VASER Smooth complements the treatment.

Liposuction: details to read up on
In cases of significant overweight, significantly fluctuating weight, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and when the main aim is weight loss. If you are overweight or your weight fluctuates, we are happy to support you on the way to a stable weight.
A refined contour is already visible a few weeks after the treatment; the final result develops within three to six months, once the swelling has subsided. Removed fat cells do not grow back, so the result is permanent as long as your weight remains stable. If you gain weight, the remaining fat cells enlarge.
As with any procedure, there are risks: swelling and bruising, temporary numbness and irregularities in the skin contour. We discuss them in the consultation.
The procedure takes place under local anaesthetic, twilight sedation or general anaesthetic. Afterwards, mild pain, a feeling of tightness or swelling may occur, which can be treated well with painkillers.
