What is Fraxel DUAL?
Skin renewal from within
Fraxel DUAL is a non-invasive, fractional laser treatment. The laser treats microscopically small areas of skin with pulses of light and leaves the healthy skin in between untouched. This activates the body's own renewal and collagen formation, while healing remains considerably shorter than with ablative lasers.

Fraxel DUAL: depth, surface or both
Fraxel DUAL works with two wavelengths, used individually or combined, depending on the skin condition.
1550 nm for depth
Penetrates deeper and stimulates collagen formation. For acne scars, deeper wrinkles, stretch marks and large-pored skin.
1927 nm for the surface
Acts gently on the upper layer of the skin. For sun spots, age spots and melasma, for an even skin tone.
Combination
Both wavelengths in one session, when the surface and deeper layers are to be treated at the same time.
In detail
The wavelengths and their effect
The 1550 nm wavelength penetrates deeper into the skin and stimulates collagen production there. It is suitable for acne scars and deeper wrinkles, but can also help with stretch marks and large-pored skin. Particularly suitable for skin types with few pigment problems, where firmer skin is the goal.
The 1927 nm wavelength acts on the skin surface and helps with pigment disorders such as sun spots, age spots and melasma. It evens out skin tone, refines the skin's appearance and promotes cell renewal, without placing great strain on the top layer of the skin.
In many cases, we recommend both wavelengths in one session, to treat the surface and deeper layers together. This allows tightening, pigment spots and wrinkles to be addressed in a single course of treatment. Which combination is right is shown by the skin analysis in the consultation.

What to expect from the Fraxel treatment at Innerform
Consultation and skin analysis
We discuss your wishes and expectations, give a medical assessment and analyse the skin in order to choose the appropriate wavelength.
Treatment
About 60 minutes before the treatment, a numbing cream is applied. The laser treatment itself takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area. The laser delivers pulses of light into microscopically small areas of skin and stimulates renewal there. A feeling of warmth during the session is normal.
Healing and aftercare
Mild to moderate redness and swelling usually subside after a few days; the skin may feel flaky or dry. Avoid direct sun in the first few days, including behind windows. We recommend a daily vitamin C serum, a light moisturising gel with B5 and high sun protection.
Anaesthesia
Numbing cream, 60 minutes to take effect before the treatment.
Recovery
Downtime 3 to 4 days; after 5 to 7 days the skin is back to normal.
Result
First effect after about a week, full effect over several months through new collagen.
Duration
Long-lasting with good skincare and sun protection; many people refresh it annually.

Fraxel DUAL: details to read up on
For very dark skin types (Fitzpatrick 5 and 6), Fraxel is not ideal because the risk of hyperpigmentation or loss of pigment increases. We also advise against it for very sensitive skin, active rosacea or a tendency towards keloid scars.
People with active skin infections or inflammation, with active acne or herpes outbreaks, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people who have recently had a chemical peel or another laser treatment, and people who take blood-thinning medication or tend to heal poorly.
Redness, mild swelling and a feeling of dry skin are typical. In rare cases, temporary hyperpigmentation can occur, especially without consistent UV protection.
A numbing cream is applied before the treatment. During the session, a feeling of warmth may occur, which is generally well tolerated.
