Rhinoplasty in Berlin
Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular aesthetic surgical procedures - and for good reason: the nose shapes the face like almost no other feature. If it is too large, too wide, too long or conspicuously shaped, it can disrupt the harmony of the profile. A precisely planned, individually tailored correction of the nose not only creates aesthetic balance, but can also significantly improve self-image and well-being - without appearing artificial.

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to change the shape of the nose with the aim of creating an aesthetically harmonious overall appearance. Depending on the initial anatomical situation, the nose can be reduced in size, straightened, narrowed, the tip of the nose refined or a hump removed. Functional aspects such as obstructed nasal breathing can also be integrated into the operation and improved.
Treatment procedure
A detailed consultation takes place before the actual operation. Not only are wishes and expectations discussed, but the individual facial anatomy is also analyzed. In many cases, a digital simulation is used to develop a realistic target image.
The operation itself is usually performed under general anesthesia and takes around 1.5 to 3 hours. Depending on the technique (open or closed), the skin is either detached via a small incision on the bridge of the nose or purely from the inside in order to shape the underlying structures - bone and cartilage - in a targeted manner. Particular attention is paid to stable statics, a natural shape and scarring that is as inconspicuous as possible.
Result and durability
The final result develops gradually. The plaster is removed after approx. 10 days and most of the visible swelling has subsided after two to three weeks. However, a slight residual swelling - particularly at the tip of the nose - may persist for several months. The new nose shape remains permanent after healing is complete.
The aim is not a standardized ideal of beauty, but a nose that fits perfectly with the rest of the face in terms of size, shape and lines - natural and individual from all angles.
Important aspects of aftercare
In the first few days after the procedure, the head should be elevated and physical strain should be avoided. Cooling, rest and taking decongestant medication will support healing. The nose is particularly sensitive for a few weeks - glasses should not rest directly on it, sunbathing and sport should be avoided for the time being. Regular check-ups ensure that healing is progressing optimally and that any swelling or hardening can be detected and treated at an early stage.

How long does the nose remain swollen after the operation?
The swelling gradually subsides: Most of it goes down in the first three weeks. However, slight residual swelling - especially in the area of the tip of the nose - can persist for up to 12 months, but is usually only visible to trained eyes.
Can a rhinoplasty also be performed purely functionally?
Yes, in many cases nasal breathing is improved by a so-called septoplasty (straightening of the nasal septum).
Is the result really permanent?
Yes, once the healing is complete, the aesthetic result is permanent. The nose ages like any other part of the body, but it does not "deform" again.
Is there a risk that the nose will look artificial after the operation?
Not with a well-planned and professionally performed rhinoplasty. The aim is always to achieve a harmonious, natural-looking result that suits the individual facial anatomy - not a "one-size-fits-all" nose.
How painful is a nose operation?
Most patients experience a feeling of pressure rather than severe pain after the procedure. Mild discomfort may occur in the first few days, but can be easily treated with standard painkillers.
Can you breathe through your nose after the operation?
Breathing may be restricted immediately after the operation - mainly due to internal swelling or tamponades, if these are used. Nasal breathing improves significantly after a few days.
When can I return to sport?
Light physical activity is usually possible again after two weeks. However, intensive sports, especially contact sports, should be avoided for 6-8 weeks in order not to jeopardize the result.
How long do you have to wear a splint?
The external nasal splint is usually worn for 7-10 days. It protects the new nose shape during the initial healing phase and should remain dry and intact until it is removed.
