Buccal fat removal in Berlin

Elegant facial contour through targeted removal of deep fat deposits in the cheeks.

A round face can look youthful - but not all fullness is desirable. If you want to permanently slim down the midface and define the facial contour more clearly, you can have cheek fat removed. The targeted reduction of the deep Bichat's fat - known as buccal fat removal - provides more structure in the lower cheek area and a more elegant, expressive profile.

Buccal fat removal is a surgical procedure for the targeted removal of deep-lying cheek fat - the so-called Bichat's fat body. The aim is to visually slim the face and emphasize the natural contours in the middle third of the face. The method is particularly suitable for people with genetically rounded or soft facial features, where the lower midface appears dominant and a slimmer, more defined look is desired. As an alternative to surgical removal, an optical slimming of the lower half of the face can also be achieved with targeted midface slimming treatments - for example using muscle relaxants to reduce the chewing muscles or contouring with hyaluronic acid. These methods are non-invasive and are particularly suitable for patients who do not wish to undergo surgery.

Treatment procedure

The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia or, if desired, under sedation. The Bichat's fat is carefully exposed through a small, approx. 1-2 cm long incision on the inside of the cheek - i.e. without an external scar - and a precisely measured amount is removed. The procedure takes about 30 to 45 minutes per side. As access is via the oral mucosa, the skin structure of the face is completely preserved. The volume in the lower cheek area is reduced, resulting in a clearer contour between the zygomatic arch, cheeks and chin line. The face appears slimmer, more elegant and more expressive - without appearing unnatural.

Result and durability

The result develops gradually over several weeks as soon as the post-operative swelling has subsided. The final effect is permanent, as the removed fatty tissue does not grow back. Facial expressions are fully preserved and the result appears harmonious and customized - not "hollow" or over-corrected.

Important aspects of aftercare

In the first few days after the procedure, there may be slight swelling, a feeling of pressure or temporarily restricted chewing. Intense physical exertion and hot food should be avoided at first. The wound usually heals quickly and without complications. As there is no external skin scar, no scar care is required - however, good oral hygiene is essential to avoid infections.

Are the results permanent after cheek fat removal?

Yes, the result is usually permanent. As the removed cheek fat (Bichat's fat body) does not form again, the slimmer face shape remains in the long term. A healthy lifestyle also contributes to the stability of the result.

Are there any visible scars after the procedure?

No. The procedure is performed through a small incision inside the cheek so that no scars are visible from the outside. If performed professionally, the healing process is usually inconspicuous and has few complications.

Is cheek fat removal suitable for every face shape?

Not always. The method is particularly suitable for people with a genetically fuller midface. The treatment is often not recommended for very narrow or already heavily contoured faces in order to avoid a sunken look in old age.

How does healing progress after buccal fat removal?

During the first few days, there may be swelling or a slight feeling of pressure. Cooling, a soft diet and good oral hygiene support the healing process. The stitches usually dissolve by themselves. After about two to three weeks, the face is ready for socializing again.

Can the face look sunken after the treatment?

Not if the indications are correct and the technique is restrained. The aim is a natural, elegant contour - not an excessively hollowed-out face. Individual anatomy and age are always taken into account during planning.
